While summer may soon be a distant sight in our rearview mirror, there is still plenty of fun to be had in Carver County before the snowflakes fly. September and October are absolute perfection for local breweries and wineries, offering opportunities to sip on tasty drinks with friends and family minus the crowds present a few weeks earlier.

Oktoberfests

Several breweries sprinkled throughout the county host their rendition of Oktoberfest. Each has their unique version of this favorite tradition, complete with new brews, food trucks and other amenities that match fall perfectly.

The Schram Haus Brewery has its 6th Annual Schram Haus Oktoberfest on September 21. The family event for all ages is held on their three-acre Chaska bluff location, which offers a beautiful view of the Minnesota River valley and Athletic Park. Doors open at noon for a festive day celebrating great beer, music, fun, food and more! Keep an eye out for those lederhosen and dirndls!

Victoria’s ENKI Brewing plans its annual Oktoberfest Party for Saturday, September 28, for a day of brews, food, yard games, and live music! The day begins with a Farmers Market at the Beer Garden from 12 pm to 3 pm. Stop by for local produce and seasonal goods before they are gone. Their Beer Shack will be stocked with their fan favorites and some rarities to try. There’s no better way to do that than with their special 22oz commemorative mug, available to the first 200 recipients. The mug is useable during the entire “Oktoberfest Season” for folks to get 22oz of their favorite libation at a pint price.

Hop across town on September 28 for the Chanhassen Brewing Company Oktoberfest celebration as well. Relax with your dog. Meet friends and enjoy their selection of brews with local names, like the New England IPA Chanhoppenin’, wheat ale Arboretum or Cashmere Red IPA Red Birds.

While the Waconia Brewing Company held its Oktoberfest in early September, there’s still plenty of reason to stop this fall. Check out their events, like Monday Madness, Wacky Wednesday and Trivia Nights, along with their “approachable” refreshments.

Wineries

While Oktoberfest typically has a beer slant to it, those with a plate for the grapes should make the most of the fall season by visiting three exquisite Carver County wineries. Each adds  activities like group tastings, grape harvests and crushes, live music and food truck events to their delicious wines and beautiful settings in September and October.
