Waconia looks at future downtown reconstruction plans

The Waconia City Council at its March 4 meeting authorized geotechnical work to begin to evaluate the next phases of downtown reconstruction.
Phase 1 along a portion Main Street was completed in 2023. The next phase on Main and side streets from Olive to Spruce is set to begin this spring. Phases 3 and 4 are slated for 2025 and 2026, generally to include portions of First Street, Second Street, Olive, and Elm in some of the oldest sections of town. Soil borings, topographical surveys and property condition surveys will help determine the scope of work and preparations like they did with earlier projects.
